Style Peking Duck Recipe

Peking duck is one of the most famous Chinese dishes around the world. This dish consists of tender and delicious duck meat, with crispy and tasty skin. Peking Duck is usually served with mandarin buns and fresh vegetables such as cucumber and spring onions. The following is a Peking duck recipe that you can try at home.


  • 1 whole duck
  • 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of rice wine (shaoxing wine)
  • 1 mandarin orange
  • 1 stalk of green onion
  • 1 cucumber


  • Clean the duck under running water and dry it with a paper towel. Don't forget to clean the inside of the duck too.
  • Mix the sugar and salt, then coat the duck with this mixture until evenly distributed.
  • Place the duck in a large skillet, skin down, and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes, add boiling water to the pan until the duck is covered with water. Cover the pan tightly and cook for 45 minutes.
  • After 45 minutes, remove the duck and drain. Sprinkle brown sugar over the duck skin and brush the rice wine over it. Let stand for 30 minutes until the duck skin becomes dry.
  • Bake the duck in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes or until the duck skin is crispy.
  • Serve the Peking duck with mandarin buns, spring onions, cucumber and Hoisin sauce.
