Special your valentine with this special valentine bread recipe
Here is a recipe for a classic Red Velvet Cake:
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 1 oz red food coloring
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup boiling water
Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In a separate mixing bowl, beat the eggs, buttermilk, vanilla extract, vinegar, and food coloring together.
- Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Stir in the vegetable oil and boiling water until fully incorporated.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool completely before frosting.
For the cream cheese frosting:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt, beating until fully incorporated.
- Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread a generous layer of frosting over one cake, and then place the other cake on top.
- Frost the outside of the cake with the remaining frosting.
- Serve and enjoy!
Note: The recipe yields one 9-inch cake, which serves approximately 8-10 people. Double the ingredients if you want to make a larger cake.
