Special your valentine with this special valentine bread recipe

Here is a recipe for a classic Red Velvet Cake:


  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 oz red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup boiling water

Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, beat the eggs, buttermilk, vanilla extract, vinegar, and food coloring together.
  4. Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Stir in the vegetable oil and boiling water until fully incorporated.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool completely before frosting.

For the cream cheese frosting:

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt, beating until fully incorporated.
  • Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread a generous layer of frosting over one cake, and then place the other cake on top.
  • Frost the outside of the cake with the remaining frosting.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Note: The recipe yields one 9-inch cake, which serves approximately 8-10 people. Double the ingredients if you want to make a larger cake.
