classic recipe for Apple Pie

Apple Pie is a kind of pie or pie cake made from pie crust dough and filled with pieces of apple mixed with sugar, spices and other ingredients. Pie crust dough is usually made from a mixture of flour, butter or shortening, water and salt. Once filled, the pie is then baked until it is cooked through and has a golden brown crust. Apple Pie is a popular dessert in North America and Western Europe, especially during the fall season and holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Here's a classic recipe for Apple Pie:

2 pie crusts (homemade or store-bought)

8 cups thinly sliced and peeled apples (about 8 medium-sized apples)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 egg, beaten

1 tablespoon coarse sugar

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.

In a large bowl, mix together the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice.

Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, and dot with butter.

Roll out the second pie crust and cut it into strips. Arrange the strips in a lattice pattern over the apple filling.

Brush the beaten egg over the lattice crust and sprinkle with coarse sugar.

Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.

Enjoy your delicious homemade Apple Pie!
